Items that need special handling. Fridges, freezers, mattresses, gas canisters and paint tins can't go in with general waste. We collect them separately for an extra charge, so mention them when you send your photo. We don't accept asbestos.
How much does rubbish removal cost?
Three things set the price: how much there is, what it is (heavy rubble costs more to dispose of than mixed household waste) and how easy it is to reach. That's why a photo gets you the most accurate price.

For many jobs, rubbish removal works out cheaper than a skip. You only pay for the waste we take, and you never need a permit or a driveway.
Rubbish removal, skip or wait and load?
Choose rubbish removal when
- The rubbish is ready to go now
- You don't want to do any lifting
- There's nowhere to put a skip. Our skips go on private land only, as we don't arrange council road permits
Choose a skip when
- You're producing waste over time, like a kitchen refit or renovation
- You have a drive or yard for it
- You'd rather load it yourself. Hire includes 14 days, then £25 a week
No driveway but a one-day job? Wait and load is the middle option: we bring the skip lorry, wait while you load, and take it away straight after.
Can I take rubbish to the tip myself?
Yes, for household waste in a car. Newport City Council's household waste recycling centre needs a booking before every visit, in 15-minute slots, and is open 7:30am to 6pm, seven days a week. It only admits cars, passenger vehicles and small trailers up to 1.6m by 1.2m. Goods vans of any size are turned away. (Newport City Council)

Protect yourself: your duty of care
Under Welsh law you're responsible for your rubbish even after it leaves your property. If you pay an unlicensed collector and it gets dumped, you can be fined.
Natural Resources Wales recorded 48,367 fly-tipping incidents across Wales from April 2024 to March 2025, up 14.7% on the year before, and 71% contained household waste. Householders who don't check their collector face a £300 fixed penalty, or a fine of up to £5,000 in court. (Natural Resources Wales)
Four checks before you hand over any rubbish
- Ask for the waste carrier registration number and check it on the Natural Resources Wales public register, or call 0300 065 3000.
- Ask where the rubbish is going.
- Get a waste transfer note or a receipt with the company's details.
- Be wary of cash-only offers from social media posts or cold callers.

Where your rubbish goes
Every load comes back to our yard on Star Trading Estate, Ponthir, where it's sorted by hand and machine. Timber, metal, rubble and green waste are separated so they can be recycled. Around 90% of what we collect is recycled or recovered rather than sent to landfill.

How much does rubbish removal cost in Newport?
It depends on how much there is, what it is and how easy it is to reach. A photo lets us give you an accurate price before we come out, so there are no surprises on the day.
Is rubbish removal cheaper than a skip?
For small and medium loads it usually is, because you only pay for what we take and we do the loading. For bigger projects you fill over days or weeks, a skip is better value.
Do I need to be home when you collect?
Not always. If the rubbish is outside and easy to reach, such as on a drive or in a garden, we can collect while you're out. Just let us know when you book.
Can you take a single item?
Yes. A single sofa, bed or wardrobe is fine. Fridges, freezers and mattresses are collected separately for an extra charge. See bulky item collection.
